Dress Code

At North Reading School of Ballet, we adhere to the following dress code. Proper dress code allows for dancers to move properly and for teachers to see students alignment and posture, minimizes distractions and creates a uniform look in the class. By “dressing the part” dancers feel like part of the group. Our goal is to encourage the team spirit and the focus and respect that learning the art of dance requires.

  • All hair must be pulled away from face. Ballet buns are required for ALL ballet classes.

  • No jewelry.  Stud earrings are acceptable.

  • No apple watches or smart watches

  • No gum, food and drinks in the studio. Water only

Sizing kits are available at the office. Please email to schedule a fitting if needed.

On Your Toes in Peabody also has everything your dancer will need!

YOUNG DANCERS

All Young Dancer uniform is available at the NRSB office or by clicking the link above! Please note that the leotard is not currently available at On Your Toes.  

Twinkle Tots (with caregiver):

No uniform required. Comfortable clothing and bare feet or sticky socks. Please note that no street shoes are allowed in the studio.

 

Tiny Dancer:

Plain pink short-sleeve skirted leotard, ballet pink tights, pink ballet slippers, black tap shoes

 

Pre-Ballet I:

Plain purple short-sleeve skirted leotard, ballet pink tights, pink ballet slippers, black tap shoes

 

Pre-Ballet II:

Plain blue short-sleeve skirted leotard, ballet pink tights, pink ballet slippers, black tap shoes

 

*Pre-Ballet I/II class on Wednesday can have either purple or blue leotard

 

Intro to Ballet/Tap/Jazz:

Burgundy tank leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers, black tap shoes. White ballet skirt (optional)

 

Ballet I-III:

Black tank leotard, ballet Pink tights (Body Wrappers Theatrical Pink C80/A80), pink ballet slippers (Bloch #205 full sole), black ballet skirt (optional)

 

Ballet IV and up:

Black camisole leotard, ballet pink seamed convertible tights (Body Wrappers Theatrical Pink C45/A45), pink leather split sole ballet slippers (Bloch 258 or Bloch 208), black ballet skirt (optional)

 

Jazz I - VI:

Black leotard, tan footed or convertible tights (Body Wrappers Jazzy Tan C80/A80 or C81/A81), tan split sole jazz shoes (Bloch 495, no ties)

 

Jazz V/VI:

Black leotard, tan footed or convertible tights (Body Wrappers Jazzy Tan C80/A80 or

C81/A81), tan split sole jazz shoes (Bloch 495, no ties)

 

Tap Level I - VI:

Black leotard, tan footed or convertible tights (Body Wrappers Jazzy Tan C80/A80 or C81/A81)

Bloch Respect tap, black (S0361L) or Black tie tap shoe

 

Contemporary:

Black leotard, tan convertible tights (Body Wrappers Jazzy Tan C81/A81)

 

Modern:

Black leotard, tan or black convertible or footless tights (Body Wrappers Jazzy Tan or

Black C81/A81 or C33/A33)

 

Hip-Hop:

Dance pants or shorts with a white or black t-shirt and hip hop sneakers or clean black sneakers (not to be worn outside)

 

Musical Theater:

Black leotard, tights or dance pants, tan split sole jazz shoes (Bloch 495)

 

Acro:

Solid colored leotard, leggings or footless/convertible tights. BARE FEET REQUIRED.

 

Boys:

Black pants or shorts, white t-shirt, black jazz, tap or ballet shoes

 

Adult Ballet:

Leotard/tights or dance pants/shirt and ballet slippers

 

 *If your child has ballet and another class with different color tights, please wear pink tights for

all classes
