Celebration of Dance featuring Cinderella

2:00 PM – Recital Performance
The Annual Celebration of Dance is one of the most anticipated events here at North Reading School of Dance. This annual event is one of our cherished traditions which provides opportunities for students to showcase their acquired skills and talent from our dance programs. This year, we present the timeless story of Cinderella, offering children, families and dance enthusiasts to step into the enchanting world of this fairytale.
Recital Opening
Experience the high-energy of all dancers on stage with our Recital Opening! Every student, from youngest to most advanced dancers participates in this opening routine. Rehearsals for the opening number are always held in class, with additional practice sessions available to ensure all dancers are performance-ready.
- The t-shirt, which will list all the dancers will be $35.
- Dancers MUST REGISTER AHEAD OF TIME to order their special edition 2024 Recital Shirt, which includes all the dancers names and will be worn over their costume. The price of the shirt will be $35.
- We know everyone is busy but we encourage all students to attend at least 2 rehearsals!
- Rehearsal Times: Friday, April 12 5:45-6:45, Thursday May 9 and May 16 4:00-5:00
VIP Dance
Swing your partner ‘round and ‘round!
Our Very Important Partner Dance is a special opportunity for dancers to perform on stage with a loved one. It is an experience a dancer and a special loved one will never forget!
- There will be three rehearsals: 4/26, 5/3, 5/10 from 5:45-6:45.
- Dancers will wear one of their costumes and VIPs will wear a suit/dress.
- There will be a $35 fee per family. If there is a VIP for multiple dancers, that is great!
- Please RSVP by 4/22 so that we can determine interest for our dance! Dads, moms,
- and all caregivers are welcome to be a VIP!
Recital Day Guidelines

Schedule for Arrival:
- 9:30 -10:15 – Ballet levels II/III – VI arrival
- 10:30 11:45 – Cinderella run through (no Young Dancers)
- 11:45-12:00 – Lunch break
- 12:00 – All dancers arrival EXCEPT Young Dancers
- 12:15 – 1:15 – Opening rehearsal
- 1:00 – Young Dancers Arrival (All Tiny Dancer, Pre-Ballet, Intro to Ballet/Tap/Jazz classes)
Reminder:
PLEASE BE ON TIME! It can be very hectic backstage when dancers arrive late. We
ask for your patience during the check in and out process. Safety is TOP priority.
The show will begin promptly at 2:00pm.
Instructions for Arrival: All dancers must be checked in at the check-in table. Only one parent may bring the dancer for check-in. Parents will receive a bracelet that is required for dancer pick up. Please be patient during this process. Young Dancers will be dismissed to parents at intermission. Please do not get up from your seat until after the curtain closes for intermission. Dancers wishing to watch the remainder of the show will need to purchase a ticket. It is sure to be a great Act II!
Recital Policy: Students are not permitted to leave the venue while the recital is running. No student is to leave the backstage area, no exceptions. Only North Reading School of Ballet staff and registered volunteers are permitted backstage. We are unable to run messages or items to students, so please make sure they have everything before they come backstage for rehearsal and the recital.
For your valuables: Leave valuables home. NRSB and the venue will take no responsibility if an item is damaged, misplaced, lost or stolen. If your child has any Medical Conditions that may require attention whilst in our care or are carrying any medication with them, please notify our supervisors when you sign in.
Things to Bring:
ALL ITEMS MUST BE CLEARLY LABELLED WITH DANCER NAME!
● Costume(s):
- Young Dancers arrive IN costume, with an Opening shirt if participating. Pack ONLY dance shoes in a dance bag. LABEL EVERYTHING PLEASE!
- Dancers with more than one dance may bring costumes in a garment bag or laundry basket or portable costume rack.

● extra hair spray, gel, hair elastics, bobby pins, and safety pins. Please ensure any medication required is packed and clearly labelled with instructions.

What not to Bring:
● Food, candy and drinks – Costumes are easily ruined by food and drink stains!
● Valuables that can be easily lost. NRSB and the venue are NOT responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items.

Picture Day Guidelines

We will be taking both a class picture and individual photos during the scheduled time. Please make every effort to get to your scheduled time so that all the dancers are in the group photo. There is no makeup day scheduled.
- All hair in a ballet bun, makeup is at parent discretion, but encouraged.
- All students will be photographed for the group photo, individuals are optional and you will receive order information from Clix. You do not need to purchase photos, but please be part of the group photos!
Remember, May, 4, 2024 is our Academy Picture Day, more information will be sent to Academy members.

Costume Week
April 29 – May 4th
We distribute your costumes during the Costume Week. Please make sure to keep your costume in a safe place, and please do not wear your costume at home. We want them in perfect condition for our show!
Costume Week will give teachers, parents, and dancers an opportunity to see how the costume should look and give any instructions prior to picture day and recital. During costume week, dancers wear their costumes during their regular class time.
Reminders:
- Young Dancers should arrive dressed in costume. Pack an extra leotard just in case!
- Older dancers can wear regular dance uniforms and pack costumes in a garment bag to bring to class.
- Please have all hair neatly pulled into a bun. Makeup is not necessary. Parents are invited into the studio during the last 10 minutes of class to watch the recital dance and take photos and video. To help avoid distractions, please try not to talk with your child.
- Label all of your child’s belongings, including dance shoes, costumes, dance bags, water bottle. There is NO FOOD OR DRINK (except water) allowed while in costume.

DRESS REHEARSAL IS MANDATORY.
When you arrive: Teachers and class parents will meet dancers in the hallway to take them into the auditorium. Parents are not allowed in the auditorium or backstage for dress rehearsal.
Young Dancers and dancers with only one costume must arrive in costume with hair and makeup. Dance shoes can be carried in their dance bag. Dancers with more than one dance may bring costumes in a garment bag or laundry basket. MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS LABELLED!
When to arrive:
4:00 – Doors open
4:30 – ALL Cinderella Dancers (Please find your class below for dismissal time!)
4:30-5:30 – Tiny Dancer (Monday 4:00pm, Friday 9:30 am and Saturday 9:30am)
4:30-6:00 -Pre-Ballet I and II, Intro to B/T/J
4:30-6:30 – All Ballet I-VI classes
6:30 – 7:00 DINNER BREAK – Please pack a healthy dinner!! All dancers must stay in the building.
7:00 – 9:30 ALL ACT II Dances (ALL jazz, tap, modern, contemporary, musical theater, hip hop)
**Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your call time**
Hair and Makeup
HAIR: All dancers must have their hair pulled straight back in a ballet bun with a hair net
to control fly-aways. Please make sure to pack extra hair pins, bobby pins, hair nets
and hair spray in case your dancer needs them during the performance. If your
dancer’s hair is too short for a bun, please secure it neatly away from their face. Alway
ask your teachers for ideas if needed!

MAKEUP:
Young Dancers: We encourage all dancers to wear foundation, pink blush and some
eyeshadow and mascara (as the dancers will let you) and lipstick.
Older Dancers: All dancers should have foundation, pink blush, neutral eye shadow
tones, false eyelashes, mascara, and red lipstick.
